TRAVEL

We recommend booking flights & accommodation as soon as possible.
Please reach out with any questions – we are here to help!

For those flying in, we will be providing transport from London Heathrow to Aldeburgh on Thursday and Friday morning at 10am, and a return coach on Sunday at 12pm. The journey from Heathrow is around 3 hours.

For those who'd like to get the train, you can take the Elizabeth Line from London Heathrow to London Liverpool Street, before getting a train to Saxmundham. Tickets can be purchased from thetrainline.com. From Saxmundham, take a taxi to Aldeburgh (15m). There is no Uber in Aldeburgh and we recommend booking a taxi ahead.

You can also drive from London (also around 3 hours, depending where you depart from).

ACCOMMODATION

Aldeburgh is a quintessential English seaside town. There's plenty to do and everything is walkable (no need to hire a car), so we recommend basing yourself there.
It is also very popular in summer - book fast!

There are quaint cottages or larger homes to rent; coastal hotels from The Suffolk to The Brudenell, The White Lion to The Wentworth; plus some pub rooms above the Cross Keys.

We would love you to join us, but if you already know you are unable to, please let let us know!

For those who can make it, formal invitation to follow

EXTRA DETAILS

Children & babies

Sadly, except for babes in arms, we cannot accommodate children at the Welcome Drinks & Wedding. We will share details of Aldeburgh babysitters closer to the time.

What To Do in Aldeburgh

The seaside town of Aldeburgh is on the North Sea, where Marina spent every summer as a child and where her parents (Mel & John) now live. There's a pebbly beach, where we swim everyday in summer, and sunbathing when the weather permits! There are plenty of walks across the marshes and up the coast to the quaint little hamlet of Thorpeness, where you pass Maggi Hambling's famous scallop sculpture (the inspiration for this wedding website design). Tennis and golf are also available, along with coffee shops, ice cream parlours and boutiques.

Airports, Arrivals & Departures

The best airport to fly into is London Heathrow. US citizens need a Travel ETA (easy to do online, but should be done before you fly). For those who want transport to Aldeburgh, the best time to arrive at Heathrow on Thursday or Friday morning is between 7-9am (leaving you time to clear passport control before jumping on the coach at 10am). The coach on Sunday will depart at 12pm, getting to Heathrow at roughly 3pm.
